This news headline was kind of delayed to the public because the announcement to why Ashley Mace wasn't returning to Mace Enterprises for 2016 was never revealed or told. Nick Mace only had to said to the questions of why Ashley wasn't returning was, "The Mace Enterprises team has fell short of what we have planned on doing by 20 races into the season. We expected by 20 races to have atleast 3-5 wins for our organization. We have only 1 win so far, and I felt that for next year I want a more championship built team with Richerd and Sean onboard."
That's all we got from the story of Ashley Mace not returning, however... Ashley Mace's future was never told to the public until today.
Ashley said this after practice in Decatur, "I think this should be addressed now that it has kind of been put off for a while now... As all of you know I am not returning to Mace Enterprises for 2016 and many people has asked me what team I would be racing for next year; and the answer to that is none. I am not returning to racing next year and will not be returning to the Sony Cup Series......I have raced in the series since Season 7, full time since Season 10 and I feel like my family back at home in Minnesota needs me. Racing for every year has been fun but also stressful with the traveling and being away from my family and I feel like I need to hang up the helmet and do what I got to do. We are going to go after this championship like no other, would be no better feeling than going out with a bang and try an win some here and there towards the end of the season. Like I said, its a personal matter of why I'm getting out of the car, I feel if I wanted I could race competitively for a lot longer but I feel like its time to do this."
