This is pretty much to give a review of your favorite racing films

This is my ranking of Racing Films from Favorite to least favorite.

1. Grand Prix- My favorite Racing film is a film based off of Formula 1 in the mid 1960's. I like it because it shows the life of what an F1 driver had to deal with in 1965. Death was a common thing in which all the drivers had to accept their fate. Plus the main plot of the movie ends up to be a plot that would actually look far into the future of Auto-Racing. In which one of the characters says, "People come to races to watch us die, I saw people cheering and clapping when Arn (The main character) trapped in his car (Which was completely on fire)." It really looked into the whole, "wrecking isn't racing" view of racing. And is a must see Racing Film.

2. RUSH- I really appreciate the historical insight into this film. It is the only racing film I have seen that is entirely non-fiction. And according to my dad (Who met and hung out with James Hunt) was VERY accurate. Plus it also dove into the whole wrecking isn't racing idea as well, in which Lauda is portrayed as a fiery young champion who realizes racing must become safer, which is spot on. I think because of this film, you also saw a resurgence of Lauda in the Formula 1 world. Lauda is now a weekly staple on camera's because he is competition director for Mercedes.

3. Winning- Most of you will have never heard of this film. Mainly because I have never seen it on T.V. I have only seen it on DVD. Pretty much the whole film was made because, Paul Newman wanted to make a racing movie. You can tell because it didn't seem very big budget. Heck the leading lady was played by Paul Newman's wife. Pretty much the whole film shows what it was like to be a racing driver in the 1960's and 70's. In which you didn't really race one series. Drivers raced in ANYTHING WITH WHEELS. Newman is seen racing, a NASCAR, a Sports Car, I think something else, and the film climax's with Paul Newman jumping in an open wheeler, and running the Indianapolis 500. It is also implied he is going to Milwaukee the week after.

4. LeMans- LeMans is a racing film... THAT'S IT, A RACING FILM. There is literally no plot outside of being a racing film. Nothing about the main character cheating on his wife, nothing about his wife cheating on him. No plot outside of the LeMans race. Again, the only reason why this film was made was because Steve McQueen wanted to be in a racing film (even though he was offered a role in Grand Prix). The film starts at the green flag, and ends on the podium. Heck I swear there are only 25 lines of dialouge in the whole film. Yet on it's own, it is almost like watching an NR2003 series highlight reel of an important race without commentary. It is really quite fantastic, however it can get a bit boring.

5. Driven- I know what you are thinking, "Kenny has gone batshit crazy... how can Driven not be his least favorite." Well, Driven is so bad it is HILARIOUS. I view Driven as a comedy. If you haven't seen Driven, you pretty much have to watch it. Needless to say Sylvester Stallone created the damn thing and proposed it to Bernie Ecclestone in which Ecclestone would be awarded half of the profits, WHO EVEN THE GREEDY BASTARD THAT IS BERNIE, TURNED IT DOWN BECAUSE HE SAW HOW BAD THE FILM WOULD BE! Mean while, the CART/Indycar split took place. CART saw this film as an AWESOME marketing tool to effectively bury Indycar. So they jumped on it. The film consists of Drama that would make those shitty soap operas at 1PM that you watch when you skipped school look like a James Bond movie. Crashes that look more like Airplane crashes then car wrecks. One of which involved Christiano DaMatta flying 75 FEET IN THE AIR!!! Driving race cars at 195MPH on the crowded streets of Chicago, and endless stupid garbage. I honestly think it was what KILLED CART!

6. Talladega Nights- I'll be honest, I don't like Will Farrell. He reminds me of that kid you know who tries to be funny, but ends up being really annoying. That is where I put Farrell. Pretty much, this film is a spit in the face to NASCAR and its fans. Keep in mind, when the idea was presented to NASCAR Brian France was in charge of the film department. I didn't really understand the plot. But for a comedy, I think I laughed around 3 times in the film. All of which were jokes by the French driver.

7. Herbie Fully Loaded- This should some up why it is down so low... Lindsey Lohan wins a NASCAR race at Fontana in a VW Bug by driving on the catchfence to avoid a pileup. I don't know what is more unrealistic, NASCAR allowing a VW Bug driven by Lindsey Lohan to race. Or the fact that Auto Club had a wreck in 2005 era NASCAR. I don't actually remember this movie all that much. But I know it had cameos from Gordon and Johnson.

And now my least favorite Racing Film of all time!!!

8. DAYS OF THUNDER- You probably are thinking I am drunk... But this film is HORRIBLE. It gives off the complete wrong message, in which bumping and wrecking people is A-OK. Which in NASCAR in the early 90's it pretty much was... THANKS A LOT DALE EARNHARDT. But anyway, the plot is unrealistic, half the film is him and the antagonist wrecking each other. The fact that he gets wrecked by his rival at Daytona, then within like 3 laps is battling with him for the lead, when the Big One Strikes. To which he goes full speed into the wreck and slams head first into the wreck causing his car to barrel roll. But the real reason why I hate this film is how well it did. Statistically it did better then any film above it. Everyone I have talked to has said it was fantastic. The film had Tom Cruise in it. And yet it is SO DAMN OVERRATED!

There are no racing movies besides Herbie FL that I've seen that I've disliked. Rush is my favorite though, Days of Thunder is 2nd. Haven't seen Grand Prix, Winning, or Le Mans.

Days of Thunder is better than Herbie. I mean seriously. I just watched it and was curling up into a ball crying waiting for the horror to be over. First this is Herbie. I love Herbie. I would go out and by a VW Bug right now and paint it like Herbie, because I loved the original movie, but there is no way that little piece of shit would go around 200 mph. Second the team has a car. Just cause it was wrecked doesn't mean they don't have a backup car. third I don't even think she had her NASCAR License. Forth, I don't think Bass Pro Shops would drop there sponsorship of the #56 to sponsor the the #53 then not even put a BPS tag on the car, or that Bass Pro Shops would have a freaking Blue and Red car. Like I said it was a horror show.

One movie I'm surprised is not on your list is Cars it was a great movie and it stayed true NASCAR Style Racing, and point system. I bet if we were still on the chase system and we had 3 drivers tied for points and have the same amount of wins they would have another race maybe not with just 3 cars, but they would have another race.

Now if it just comes down to racing movies. The Fast & The Furious my favorite movie ever. I don't need to say more.

Cars and F&F I both really like. Cars 2 IMO is the worst.
