As Season 20 grows closer, right around now we start to hear grumblings about the schedule for next season. This is no exception this season, however there is a lot of contention around what tracks should be added and what shouldn't. The teams and drivers in the past have been quite vocal about the High Banked Superspeedway in the past. Tracks like Texas Motor Speedway, The OK Coral, Washington D.C, Daytona, Talladega, Homestead, as well as others have been targeted this season. "They are so damn fast no one can get away from each other, if a wreck happens it can be catastrophic," stated Nicholas Vernier.
"Talladega is one track that ought to be obliterated off the side of the earth. It isn't designed for the cars that we run today, it was designed for 40 year old ARC cars that topped out at 190 MPH. Going 230MPH and still being flat out is a serious issue," stated D&C Principle Greg Caraway.
The teams and drivers have come up with a solution to these issues and printed out a list of possible, "Replacement." tracks.
The OK Coral - Hallet Motorsport Park
Homestead - St. Pete
Talladega - Barber Motorsport Park
All of this comes on the heels of Texas Motor Speedway announcing that they will likely have a deal with the ARCSOA Elite Series for a race sometime in the early part of the season. Probably taking either Louisiana's date or maybe fighting with Homestead for the Season Opener.
ARCSOA CEO Stephanie Tilton, who will not be in charge for Season 20 stated, "It all comes down to which promoter can afford the Opener, myself and my replacement will have to go through the possible applicants and see who might do the best. Right now the three main players are Homestead Miami, Texas Motor Speedway, and The OK Coral."
When the topic of came up, Tilton was blunt, "If the drivers of today can't handle the Superspeedway, then they should frankly retire."
