Starting on the front row for the biggest race of the season has never been so key. Being the fastest guy in your group qualifying means a guaranteed starting position in the DAYTONA 500. With Jordan Newman (last seasons champion) having a past champions provisional due to being the most recent champion he is no matter what guaranteed a 42nd place starting spot (last, past champ provisional) so with the fastest guys in Group Qualifying 1 and 2 they will be the ones who start on the front row for the DAYTONA 500. If they wreck out in their Duel Races however, the pole sitter will have to start 39th and 2nd place starting position would have to start in 40th. So its a big difference. Qualifying will also arrange how they lineup in the Duels on Thursday!
